Thomas Wilson ( 1770 - 1820 )


Thomas Wilson was born in Ellerker in 1770 and was baptised in Ellerker Church on Christmas Day 1770. He was the son of William Wilson and Ann Storey who were married at Kirkdale in 1769. Thomas married Ann Jamieson (born in 1774, possibly in Cawood) on 15th March 1796. Thomas and Ann had six children:
  • Major Wilson, born on 17th November 1799
  • George Wilson, born in Ellerker on 3rd March 1805, died 7th October 1858 in Ellerker, married Anne Daggett (born 1806 in Hull, died in Ellerker on 16th May 1867) on 27th July 1833
  • Robert Wilson, born in 1807, died on 16th April 1873 in Ellerker, married Mary ? (born around 1810 in Cottingham, died on 24th June 1884 in Ellerker) in 1832. The 1851 Census records them as Robert Wilson, aged 43, an agricultural labourer born in Ellerker, his wife Mary Wilson, aged 41, born in Cottingham, and their children:
    - Edwin Wilson, aged 16, a gardener born in South Ferriby
    - Dinah Wilson, aged 13, born in South Ferriby
    - Elizabeth Wilson, aged 10, born in Melton
    - Sarah Ann Wilson, aged 8, born in Melton
    - John Robert Wilson, aged 2, born in Melton
  • Thomas Wilson, born around 1811, died on 24th May 1848 in Brantingham, married Hannah ? (born around 1811, died on 8th Sep 1872 in Brantingham)
  • Hannah Wilson, born on 1st June 1818
  • Charles Wilson, birth date unknown
Thomas Wilson died in Ellerker on 7th September 1820. Ann Wilson died in Ellerker on 1st March 1861. They were buried in the churchyard of All Saints, Brantingham, their gravestone reads:
In affectionate remembrance of Thomas Wilson of Ellerker who died September 7th 1820 aged 50 years. Also Ann Wilson wife of the above who died March 1st 1861 aged 87 years. Also Thomas Wilson son of Thomas and Ann Wilson who died May 21st 1848 aged 37 years. Also Hannah his wife who died September 8th 1872 aged 61 years.
